On September 23, 2020, Common Good held the fifth forum of the Campaign for Common Good to explore the need for a new operating system of government. The forum highlighted The Wake-Up Call, a new book by John Micklethwait and Adrian Wooldridge, which argues that the operating system of American government is no longer able to make the choices needed to govern effectively, regardless of who is president. It "has been crumbling for decades, overloaded with obligations, undersupplied with talent, and picked apart by special interests."
