No Time for Games? The Power of Play

Marianne Armshaw
Miami Herald, July 29, 2007

The Miami Herald laments the disappearance of children's free play, particularly recess, in America. The article mentions that Common Good is working to raise awareness and reverse the trend of vanishing playtime:

"The national organization Common Good is so disturbed by vanishing playtime and the rise in child obesity that they have organized a national campaign to raise awareness.

Philip K. Howard, founder of Common Good and author of The Death of Common Sense (Grand Central Publishing, $13.95), recommends that parents create play-friendly lives and fight schools trying to cut back on recess."
