Disorder in the Courts: CG Chair and CG Director of Policy Address ALEC

December 13, 2002

Location: Washington, D.C.

Common Good was invited to address the American Legislative Exchange Council's (ALEC) States and National Policy Summit held at the Renaissance Hotel in Washington, D.C., on December 13th and 14th. ALEC is the nation's largest bipartisan individual membership association of state legislators, with 2400 members across America. Many of the state legislators in attendance had recently been elected to their legislatures for the first time, and because term limits are more and more common, this is not unusual.

Philip K. Howard, our founder and chair, participated in the "Disorder in the Courts" workshop, held Friday, December 13th. Philip participated with Victor Schwartz, partner at Shook Hardy and Bacon LLP and the ALEC Civil Justice Task Force Chair, Gary Palmer of the Alabama Policy Institute, and Sen. Tommy Robertson, Mississippi State Senator.

Nancy A. Udell, our Director of Policy and Counsel, participated on December 14th in the Civil Justice workshop and the Health and Human Services Workshop.
