Ambia Harper
Senior Counsel

Before rejoining Common Good in January 2009, Ambia Harper was an associate at Hogan & Hartson LLP in Washington, DC. She was a member of the firm’s Education Group, where her practice focused on representation of school districts, colleges, universities, education associations, and investors in education-related companies. Ambia previously worked at Common Good as a research associate in 2003. She received a JD from Yale Law School, where she was managing editor of the Yale Law Journal, and a BA from Columbia University. Ambia leads Common Good’s education and civil justice initiatives, and is involved in research and outreach relating to our work in health care.

Pam Martin
Research Associate

Pam Martin joined Common Good in August of 2008 as a research associate. She provides outreach and research assistance in each of Common Good’s program areas. She earned her undergraduate degree from Northwestern University in 2008, majoring in Communication with a minor in French. She is fluent in Spanish and French.

Carl Snodgrass
Research Associate

Along with his research duties, Carl Snodgrass oversees many of the operations at Common Good’s online forum, NewTalk.org. Prior to joining Common Good in November of 2008, he worked as an investigator for the New York City Civilian Complaint Review Board. He is currently also the Vice President of Long Distance Voter, an online resource for absentee voters. He is a classically trained pianist, and paints and composes music in his spare time.

Travis Stewart
Director of Operations

Travis Stewart has had almost 15 years of experience in non-profit development and communications, working for such organizations as Big Apple Circus, New-York Historical Society, Theater for the New City, and Brooklyn Community Access Television. He is also a free-lance arts journalist and author, writing under the pseudonym Trav S.D. for such publications as the New York Sun, the Village Voice, Time Out New York, American Theatre, and Reason. He studied Film & Television at NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts.

Donna Thompson
Director of External Affairs

Donna Thompson is Director of External Relations. She joined Common Good from the Manhattan Institute, where her initial responsibility was to edit the Institute’s Center for Legal Policy white papers. Subsequently she served as Deputy Director of the Institute’s Latin America initiative – the Inter-American Policy Exchange – and as Events Director, where she managed the Institute’s renowned author and policy speaking and advocacy forums. Prior to The Manhattan Institute, she headed the International Rescue Committee’s (IRC) public education effort where she specialized in increasing IRC’s worldwide profile and advancing support for refugee issues. Prior to her IRC role, she held a senior marketing position at the American Institute for Foreign Study Scholarship Foundation where she represented the organization’s work to its overseas clients. Donna enjoys trekking, tennis and other outdoor activities.
